Publisher Description:
ARTneo and the Artist Archives of the Western Reserve partner with Cleveland State University Galleries for a retrospective of works by Samuel Butnik. The exhibition will consist of works from the collections of AAWR and ARTneo, emphasizing Butnik's ability to capture the feeling of the landscape throughout his career in a variety of styles. From his early landscapes painted during World War II, to his sketches from his European travels and his large abstract canvases, Butnik referenced both physical journeys as well as psychological and transcendental explorations. Samuel Butnik's work was, in his own words, a "realization of new experiences."
