Annotation: "Product, politics and packaging make this the most outstanding incinerating concept single ever... The Ex create the perfect stimulating collision of art, pop and politics to date, musically subverting and visually building a forum of thought. You simply must buy this". -- New Musical Express

"Product, politics and packaging make this the most outstanding incinerating concept single ever. The innovation in the presentation of this product is not only breathtaking but also shows, in a pioneering way, how to make political pop look informative, interesting, and more importantly, fun to the average person with an apathetic attitude to such ideas.... The Ex create the perfect stimulating collision of art, pop and politics to date, musically subverting and visually building a forum of thought. You simply must buy this. You will not be able to put it down". -- NME

"Really vital, Great package". -- Maximum Rock N Roll

"1936 features hardcore outfit the Ex kicking and spitting at the ruling class. This celebration of working class power includes a 144 page booklet of war photos, as stunning a piece of photo journalism as you're ever likely to see". -- City Limits

Originally released in 1986., this 144 page photo-book about the Spanish anarchists' fight against the fascists is finally available again.

Within the deluxe hardcover, you'll find previously unpublished photographs from the CNT (the Spanish anarchist trade union) archives, documenting the heroic revolutionary straggle from 19361939, with text in English and Spanish. Two 3" CD singles contain two Spanish and two English songs - both original Spanish anarchist songs performed by the Ex, and new compositions from everyone'sfavorite anarchist-art-agitators.

For nearly two decades, "The Ex" have remained Europe's premier political art/music ensemble. Staunchly independent, and with a career spanning over 50 releases, recent productions from the Ex include the 'Dignity Of Labor' boxed set, and two LPs in collaboration with New York avant-garde cellist Tom Cora.
