Munaafiq can be applied in two different senses.1. It can be applied in a narrow sense, to one professing to be a Moslem or one standing in support of the religion of Islam, for some other desire than to serve Allah and follow its precepts. 2. A more broader application of munafiq is: one who does not act according to the dictates of his or her conscience, professing righteousness, while concealing one's true intentions and motives. As in the case of Ibliss.Sura 7: 21 "and he swore unto them both: "verily I am unto you a sincere advisor." Munaafiq may thus be used in the context of both the above definitions. Thus enabling one to measure self (nafs) and Ummah with the information contained in this writing.The term Munaafiq, henceforward, should be considered as a psychological illness with many symptoms or attributes. The action associated with this illness is considered munaafiq attributes.By way of the Holy Quran and Hadith we are told of munaafiq and its attributes as well as the remedies of the overall sickness, termed munaafiq.
