The one thing Toni Chanter wants more than anything in the world is a horse of her own. The ten-year-old has fallen in love with riding and can't wait to find her own special partner. She doesn't have to wait for long. On a business trip to Canada, Toni's mother finds Moon, a dappled gray Connemara.

Toni loves watching video of Moon jumping through a course. She can't wait to have Moon join her and together compete in hunter/jumper events. However, when Moon arrives, she isn't nearly ready for competition.

Moon isn't always on her best behavior for her trainers and Toni. Toni's trainer flat-out tells her that Moon may not be the horse for her. Toni could even get hurt if Moon gets too spirited and misbehaves.

Toni believes in Moon and their special bond. She vows to make sure that Moon is ready to compete, but that may not be enough. Can Toni truly turn Moon into a show pony in time? It will take trust and perseverance for Toni to find the best future for the horse she loves.
