Publisher Description:
English summary: For centuries, having a comprehensive and select collection were the criteria for the rank of a library. Expanding the collection was the most important task of the academic librarian. Today, since digital copies of publications are ubiquitously available, the collecting task of libraries has to be redefined. Does the librarian's concept of collecting in the digital age have any meaning at all? Is provident collecting still one of the tasks of libraries, and if so, what does it look like? How does the libraries' scope of work change in general? The contributions to this volume go back to a conference at the Herzogin Anna Amalia Library, Weimar, in 2016.
