Acids and bases are two types of molecules that have different properties. Sour molecules, such as those in lemons, are often acids; and molecules that are slippery, such as those in soap, are often bases. Acid molecules contain an "H" group made of one hydrogen atom. Base molecules contain an "OH" group made of an oxygen atom bonded to a hydrogen atom. "H" groups and "OH" groups give acids and bases their different properties.
