GILLIHAN, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gillihan has written more than 40 journal articles and book chapters on the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression, how CBT works, and the use of brain imaging to study psychiatric conditions. He is the author of Retrain Your Brain: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 7 Weeks, a self-directed workbook for managing depression and anxiety, and co-author with Janet Singer of Overcoming OCD: A Journey to Recovery. Dr. Gillihan has a clinical practice in Haverford, Pennsylvania, where he specializes in CBT and mindfulness-based interventions for anxiety, depression, and related conditions.
