Herman was a mentor for 20 years before he launched Every Child Needs a Mentor in May 2013. He has worked with many organisations nationally and internationally, including government, businesses and education establishments. He was the city of Birmingham's lead mentor; his work has been rated as 'High Quality' by Ofsted and his RAMP - Raising Achievement Mentoring Programme - received a Leading Aspect Award for closing the achievement gap. He contributed to the Department for Work & Pensions thinking around policy, influenced a White Paper on social inclusion and presented his findings before a Key Line of Enquiry committee for young people.
