Contributor Bio(s): Tompkins, Michael a.: - Michael A. Tompkins, PhD, ABPP, is a licensed psychologist who is board certified in behavioral and cognitive psychology. He is codirector of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy; assistant clinical professor at the University of California, Berkeley; Diplomate and Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy; and trainer and consultant for the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. He is author or coauthor of numerous scholarly articles and chapters on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and related topics, as well as seven books.Walker, Bridget Flynn: - Bridget Flynn Walker, PhD, is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. Walker received her PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1991. In addition to fellowships at UCLA, Norwalk Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente, Walker completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship with Jeffrey Martin, PhD--an anxiety disorder specialist and professor at UCSF School of Medicine. For the past fifteen years, Walker's private practice has focused exclusively on assessing and treating children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety disorders, and on training other mental health professionals to do the same using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
