English Vocabulary in Action: Duos (2) is the second in the series presenting a novel way of learning vocabulary and taking a learner from the Pre-Intermediate B1 level, as defined by CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) to the Advanced level C2, as defined by CEFR. The book consists of 400 sets of two sentences each where a learner is supposed to fill in the gaps in both sentences with the same word, which can be found in the suggested answers A, B or C. The first part (Idioms, Collocations, Phrases) explores more advanced vocabulary items which often depend on figurative rather than literal meaning. The second part (Phrasal Verbs) offers a new approach to mastering the English Phrasal Verbs. The sentences are structured in such a way that a learner will usually know one of the meanings required but may be intellectually excited to find the other, more unusual and less common usage of a given word or phrase. The book comes with a complete key.
