Publisher Description:
The time now called the wild west began shorty after the ending of the Civil War and lasted a decade. The gunslingers is the book, came out of the Civil War. They were men who had learned to shoot, to kill, and they were good at it. The country was in turmoil, many from the South had no home to go back too; their farms and ranches were in ruin so they resettled in Texas taking on jobs as hired hands, cow drovers. Some became gamblers, others police officers. Of these many crossed over that line, between enforcing the law and breaking it as outlaws. The wild west was really about commerce -- making money. The stories of these men need to be told with accuracy. Legends are traditional stories of the era, they are often popularly with factual roots and regarded as historical but in reality they are not unauthenticated. The stories of the men and women within these pages were painstakingly research, the reader will learn what really happened. Each chapter is dedicated to an incident, such as a shoot out or a synopsis of their career. Within these pages, are the Hyde Park Shoot Out, Chauncey B. Whitney, Henry Brown, James Butler Hickok, Morgan Earp, King Fisher, The Horrell-Higgins Feud, Jim Courtright, Luke Short, James Masterson, Jim Miller and Bill Tilghman. The first word in the books titled is fraternity, for these men pretty knew of each other, thus, the Author, has he writes of one gunman will venture and explore others as they enter the main characters life, then turn his attention back to the original person. There are over forty other gunmen included. This is the first book of three, this and vol. 2 are now available. Enjoy these short biographies, they are chock full of details
