Publisher Description: After the New Orleans Territory Militia was organized, Zenon Ledoux had been appointed a Second Lieutenant in 1806 under Captain Benjamin Poydras. Captain LeDoux's company was made up mainly of French and Spanish Creoles, with some of American blood, enlisted from the Pointe Coupee. They were an independent Cavalry unit with the Louisiana militia, under General Morgan, were of the best element of the country parishes. These young French Creole planters made their way to New Orleans with their horses from Pointe Coupee in December of 1814. They had no uniforms and brought many of their own weapons. War records place the active dates of LeDoux's men from December 26 1814 - March 13, 1815.
