Publisher Description:
This is the 20th Anniversary Deluxe re-issue of the long out of print collection of Douglas Arthur's long-running Tales From the Dougside comic strip. The original edition was published in 1997. Tales From the Dougside was first published in the pages of Generation Magazine on the University Of Buffalo campus in February 1988 and later moved to Nightlife Magazine in 1992 where it enjoyed a six and a half year run. Between 1995 and 1997 four book collections of the strips were produced and sold in local Buffalo comic shops and conventions. In 2001, the books were chosen to be part of an exhibit on underground publishing in Buffalo by the curator of the prestigious Poetry And Rare Books Collection at the University Of Buffalo. This 20th Anniversary Re-issue is the 8th book published by Douglas Arthur and first since 2013. It features a host of extras, original sketches, related materials, and memoirs of a struggling cartoonist, as well as new material created just for the book This edition also features a new foreword by Paul Kazee of It Came From Schenectady Productions, Subway Cinema, and the NY Asia Film Festival. Come see why Robert Fripp calls it "A Hoot ", why Steve Persall of the Tampa Bay Times has called it, "Tr s cool ...Amazing, twisted imagery ", why Cerebus creator Dave Sim once clamored for "More Dougside ", and why Mansplat Magazine overlord (and Guitar World editor) Jeff Gilbert once called Tales From the Dougside, "disturbed genius", and Doug "terrifically bent". Mr. Gilbert also proclaimed, "Cool ink work, loads of belly laughs, and pretzel logic." Featuring loads of bonus material including the complete, infamous short story, Robert Fripp, Agent Of KRIMSON.
