Publisher Description: The leadership who opposed Christ showed that Abraham was their father. Christ then asked them about the works of Abraham which ran counter to their works and deeds. Jesus further declared that Abraham saw him and was glad. They could not comprehend that not even fifty year old person would compare himself with the patriarch Abraham. The implication is that they did not have the Spirit of God to know the things from God. Jesud stated: "You Say My Father..... Is Your God" This book is very significant in many respects, and the most to the saints is that the "slumber and blindness" that afflicted the early people in their walk with the Lord, is still present with us. This happened to the nation of Israel that the Lord took and instructed, and carried them like an eagle, but turned away from Him to follow other gods. The patriarch Abraham followed the Lord, and did not follow any other god. When the new generation turned away and followed other gods, their heart was no longer after the God they knew, and therefore forfeited the relationship they had with him. This relationship is the work of the Holy Spirit of God. Therefore when the Spirit of God is quenched there is no longer sensitivity to the things from God.
