Publisher Description: Larry is a polar bear with style. He likes blueberry muffins, enjoys dancing ballet, and takes pride in his job as a lifeguard. He lives with the Frobisher family in the hotel that they named after him. One day, Larry invites his bear friends from the zoo for a sleepover. That's when all the fun begins Jill Pinkwater's pen-and-ink and colored-marker illustrations capture Larry's appealing character as he and his friends have the best sleepover ever. |
Contributor Bio(s): Pinkwater, Daniel Manus: - Daniel and Jill Pinkwater have collaborated on books that make children guffaw, giggle, and squeal. They have written about chickens, werewolves, dogs, and polar bears, including five other books about Larry and three books on another pair of lovable bears, Irving and Muktuk. Independent studies have shown that kids who read Pinkwater books grow up smarter than other kids. Daniel Pinkwater likes to read books aloud and occasionally reads a story with Scott Simon on National Public Radio's All Things Considered. Jill Pinkwater has written several of her own stories, including Buffalo Brenda and Tails of the Bronx: A Tale of the Bronx. Mostly, however, she likes to draw pictures especially of Larry and his friends. The Pinkwaters live in New York State's Hudson Valley, with their two dogs, Lulu and Maxine, as well as a variety of cats, geese, rabbits, and hawks. |
