Publisher Description: "Lady Chatterley's Lover" is a 1928 novel written by D. H. Lawrence. It is the story of Constance, a young upper-class married woman whose paraplegic husband has become distanced and uninterested in his wife. Due to Constance's profuse sexual frustration, she begins to have an affair with the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. The difference of class between the two forms a central motif of the novel, which soon became notorious for its explicit descriptions of sex and its employment of then-unprintable words. David Herbert Richards Lawrence (1885 - 1930) was a seminal English novelist, poet, essayist, playwright, and literary critic. Many antiquarian texts such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive, and it is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, high-quality, modern edition. It comes complete with a specially commissioned biography of the author. |
