Reviewed by School Library Journal Reviews (SLJ Reviews 2003 August)
PreS-Gr 1-Eve Bunting's delightful tale (Clarion, 1989) of the age-old dilemma of a father persuading his toddler to nap reaches a new dimension in this well-executed audio recording. The tape, which contains page-turn signals on one side and is uninterrupted on the other, easily lends itself to independent reading and listening. The story is told in three voices: mother, father, and Susie, the precocious toddler Susie. Father and Susie speak only dialogue with the narrator chiming in with "he said" and "Susie said," making it simpler for emergent readers to follow. The narrator also speaks for Mother with a distinctive voice. Cheery background music will further engage young readers. An appropriate addition to a preschool and kindergarten classroom listening centers as well as general primary collections.-Linda Fortino, Charles Quentin Elementary School, Lake Zurich, IL Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
