Reviewed by Horn Book Guide Reviews (Horn Book Guide Reviews 1996) Bennett's brief introductions to each of these tales, fables, and poems are decidedly didactic and moralistic in tone. The selections are divided by the virtues they intend to teach, such as ""Courage / Perseverance"" and ""Compassion / Faith."" Fans of Hague's old-fashioned style of illustration may enjoy the collection. Copyright 1998 Horn Book Guide Reviews |
